The competition is announced in five categories as follows:
- Category I: born between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2016
- Category II: born between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2013
- Category III: born between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010
- Category IV: born between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2007
- Category V: born between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2004
1. Competitors can only apply for the category that is due to their date of birth.
2. Competitors who have competed or possibly won earlier can also apply for the competition.
3. The order of appearance will be decided by ballot at the opening of the competition. This order will be valid throughout the competition.
4. The competition is public, the 1st-4th category has two rounds, the 5th category has three rounds.
5. The third round of the Category V. is with orchestra accompaniment.
6. The optional piece of performance cannot be:
- concerto movement
- chamber sonata (e.g. Beethoven, Brahms, etc.)
- Schumann: Fantasiestücke, Op.73; Adagio und Allegro; 5 Stücke im Volkston, Op.102
- and cannot be any of the compulsory Popper works originally set in the different categories
7. The competition program must be played without sheet music.
8. The pieces must be played without repetition.
9. The competition programme cannot be changed after the application has been submitted.
10. When choosing the competition programme, the given time frame must be kept. Otherwise, the jury has the right to listen to the piece from any part, or to stop the pieces any time.
11. The whole competition can be followed online on our website, our Facebook page, and on our YouTube channel.
12. There is sound and film recording during the competition. The recordings can be used for promotional purposes without any remuneration to the participants.
The Jury gives points to the contestants. The points are not public. The Jury reserves the right to decide whether or not to award the prizes, or to change the content of any of the prizes.
There is no money award. Announcement of results will take place at the end of competition. After the distribution of the prizes, the prize winners will perform at a Gala Concert.
After the 1st round there is a possibility for those contestants who didn’t qualify for the 2nd round to consult with the Jury to help their further development.
